Street Sweeping
The City of Livingston provides street sweeping services in accordance with a set schedule. Please see the street sweeping map here. Please make sure to place leaves and grass clippings inside your green can. Keep storm drains free of debris and litter. To prevent clogging and pollution/contamination NEVER place leaves, grass, litter or hazardous material down storm drains.
Garbage Collection
The City of Livingston has an exclusive solid waste collection franchise agreement with Gilton Solid Waste Management. Gilton collects residential trash and green waste/organics from households once a week. Please see the following list of which items go into your trash can and which go into the green waste can:

Bulky Item and Electronic Waste Pickup
Through the Bulky Item and Electronics Collection Program with Gilton Solid Waste, Residents are able to have appliances, furniture and other bulky items removed from their curb at no cost. Residents must call Gilton to schedule a pickup and are limited to two pickups per address per year. Gilton also now offers the collection of electronic devices from households at no cost. To schedule a Bulky Item or Electronics pickup, please call Gilton Solid Waste at (209) 527-3781 and press “2” for Customer Service.

Recycling Drop Off (Residents ONLY)
The City of Livingston Public Works Department offers a Recycling Drop Off to residents at no cost. The Recycling Drop Off is located at 2238 Walnut Ave. Acceptable items include: glass, bottles and jars, all paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles and plastic containers. Recyclable materials can be placed inside the recycling dumpsters between 7 AM – 3 PM.

CRV Bottles & Cans Recycling

Household Hazardous Waste
Materials with warning and caution labels are considered Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and need to be disposed of properly. For information on what’s considered HHW and where to take it, please visit: www.mcrwma.org.
Business and Multi-Family Dwelling Requirements
Businesses and multi-family dwelling locations within the City of Livingston need to comply with State mandates, which state that businesses and multi-family dwelling locations need to have recyclables and green waste/organics recycled, and need to report what they’re doing by sending the survey to the Livingston Public Works Department at:
